Coventry Central Hall is a large and beautiful historic building in the very heart of the city. Our vision is to make improvements to the accessibility and functionality of the building so that Coventry Central Hall can continue to serve and bless the city of Coventry into the next century. Can you help?
Built in 1932, Coventry Central Hall was one of 100+ Methodist Central Halls that were intentionally built as gathering spaces for the whole community. Christian faith and love for neighbours motivated our founders to root deeply in the centre of Coventry. Rather than simply providing a space for worship, their call was to offer a place for people of all faiths and none to connect and to seek justice and flourishing for everyone in the city.
This vision is still central for us today. Coventry Central Hall is vital resource to the city, offering flexible meeting spaces to community groups such a Alcoholics Anonymous, Underground Lights Theatre, the Choir with No Name. We work with Coventry City Council and host advice centres for refugees and asylum seekers and for those seeking work. We host warm hubs, youth and children’s programmes and community meals.
Hundreds enter our doors each week. And as new housing moves back into the city centre, right on our doorsteps, we believe that Coventry Central Hall will become an even more vitally important community resource in the coming decades.
However, we recognise that times and needs have changed since 1932! And so updates to our facilities are urgently needed to make the building fully accessible and fit for the growing needs of our current and future users.
Improvements needed include new lifts at the front and back of our building so that all of our spaces are accessible (especially our main hall). The front doors of our building also need to be improved and automated for wheelchair access. We also want to keep our downstairs toilets open accessible and open to the public, but updates are needed.
Would you consider making a donation toward our building fund to help Coventry Central Hall continue to serve and bless the city of Coventry, into the next century?
